I very much agree with Chris’s logic though I have searched farther afield and spent plenty of time in the southwest USA. I didn’t notice the cut-off compass before, and searched some southern hemisphere locations.

Here’s what I wrote in a private mail to Brad: “I’ve focused on coastal and resort areas… that may be the problem, but I figure if it’s got tennis courts and a pool it must be near something of scenic or recreational value. It’s a dry area, probably a Mediterranean climate.”

Shadows say ‘northern hemisphere’.
Semi-detached, well-planned and serialized housing says ‘european’, ground colour and swimming pool say ’southern and hot’, swimming pool and tennis courts say ‘rich’.

I’d say this is a vacation village near the mediterranean/atlantic coast or a suburb to a major town in either portugal or spain, constructed in the ’80s/’90s. might also be in northern africa or elsewhere mediterranean.

however, i spent a long time searching and didn’t spot this triangle pointing east…
