Well, it's way past midnight here, the weekend is officially over. So Alan and I will provide solutions for each others unsolved puzzles.
It took me a long time to crack the first hint for this one. I spent hours looking for places with palindromic names or things connected with Ferdinad de Lesseps.
But then I noticed the word 'begins', and it dawned upon me: a man.
That led me straight to Amman, the capital of Jordan:
