Has anyone thought about this one yet? I don’t even have a starting point for this (other than NH). Dwellings of some sort I’d have thought. Medium resolution. Not really narrowing anything down….

I find this image drab and depressing so I try not to think about it…. now you’ve made me think about it…. aaaarrrggh!
June 14th, 2010 at 7:46 am
Let me assure you: the image does this place no justice at all.

OK, we’ve had tropical, temperate, island in a river, island in a lake, island in a bay, island in a sea…..
We’ve not had atoll (136 isn’t, and I doubt 139 is). And at first glance this looks nothing like one, but….. could they be mud/grass huts on a sandy soil (cloudy day, medium res?)
Or am I clutching at straws again…

I think Adriaan is trying to tell us something, so don’t get shackled in your thinking.

“Justice”, “Shackled”…… Why is everything suddenly a clue.. Aaarrgghhhh
June 14th, 2010 at 12:08 pm
“Aaarrgghhhh”
My feeling exactly. I’m only guessing at Adriaan’s testimony.

I only tried to tell you that this place is far more beautiful than the picture suggests. And I should know: I’ve been there once (many years ago). I stayed for two nights in the top middle ‘dwelling’.

On the flimsiest of evidence, I’m going to suggest Indonesia.

My guess is a reconstructed viking village somewhere in Iceland, Greenland, Faroer, or somewhere on fringes of Scotland or Ireland.

Morse Island? There’s one in Maine, and one in Iowa. Neither match this image.

GoogleEarthing is turning more and more into a detective-game with the deciphering of all these clues….
August 11th, 2010 at 5:41 pm
And the news on this one?
August 11th, 2010 at 6:01 pm
Searched all Dot Islands and Dash Island doesn’t seem to exist, also tried Samuel Island after Samuel Morse but no luck there either. Searched where Samuel Morse was born too nothing there. This was before I saw the previous comment though!

“Oops I mean the August 8th comment*”
John, was that comment helpful to you? I’m thinking: Clouseau; Poirot; Holmes.
None of those has lead me anywhere. Sigh.

“Yes found it!! I’ll post it in a sec!”
Hurry up, man. It’s been over a minute now!!!!!

Carloway, Isle of Lewis on the west coast.
“detective game” did it for me immediately thought of Inspector Morse and his assistant Lewis. Colin Dexter who wrote the Inspector Morse novels was born 10miles down the road from my house!
Guess it’s back to the big concrete battlement thing now…

Haha I got over excited and had to triple check it sorry!
August 11th, 2010 at 6:24 pm
Wow, excellent deduction ability, John!! Very well done!
August 11th, 2010 at 6:27 pm
Thanks! Just realised Carloway is a massive area I think ‘na gearrannan’ is the name of the place!
